You are bidding on one iron or blade or cutter for a Stanley Number 103 wood block plane as pictured. It will need some straightening, so please keep reading down to the condition paragraph. I am listing several of these, so for clarity I am calling this one reference letter « B ». It is marked « STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO » in the arch around the upper end. Width at the lower edge is about 1-5/16″, and overall length is about 3-3/4″. Note that this iron has the closely spaced ridges or grooves on the back side, those are necessary to properly engage the adjuster on a Number 103 plane. Condition is fair to good, with a noticeable bend about an inch up from the sharp edge, lots of patina (color), a few little spots of rust or pitting, and a bit of grinding around the upper edge where it is still slightly peened over. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay.
