A Special Limited Edition 60th Anniversary 25+ LB. solid Lead filled Resin Maltese Falcon, available only from Studio 303™ in partnership with The Haunted Studios™, an Authenticated Replica™ that is screen accurate in every way, produced with the same techniques used to create the most famous prop of all time, The 1941 Maltese Falcon Statue. The actual weight will vary from 25 lbs to 28 lbs or more depending upon individual castings. Only ten of these castings will be produced for sale during the sale period of 2023. This Limited Edition Anniversary Falcon was created by applying hand burnishing and aging techniques to a Haunted Studios Original Maltese Falcon™ in order to achieve a Screen Accurate replica with an authenticated history. Our individually hand made Falcon stands nearly 12″ tall and has a shipping weight of nearly 30 pounds, the Falcon itself with a minimum weight of 25 pounds, designed to last a life time. This Ultimate Gift for any Film Noir fan comes twine bound in custom printed Asian style newspaper, packed in Captain Jacobi’s La Paloma burlap sea bag addressed to Sam Spade, and at 25+ pounds is one of our heaviest Falcons. 1941 Maltese Falcon Design Evolution Director John Huston was far from pleased when presented with the Original Maltese Falcon prop by his friend the noted Californian artist Fred Sexton. The problem with the Falcon was that it looked new. Huston felt this inappropriate for a piece that had been around the world many times in the hands of greedy men. More than 600 years travel had taken their toll, but as presented the dingus looked like it was made yesterday. An Artist in his own right Huston did a number of sketches depicting how the Original Maltese Falcon should be aged for its appearance on the screen. Following Huston’s instructions the Warner Brothers Property Department modified Sexton’s work, producing an aged original that won the director’s OK. The Property Department created lead and plaster castings while Huston and Associate Producer Henry Blanke arranged for an outside firm to provide a light weight and durable resin casting. It is important to know that the resin falcon is actually slightly different from the plaster and lead falcons; its head is flat and elongated, much like a real bird. The resin « dingus » was used exclusively in publicity photos and compared to the screen used castings the difference is plain to see. 1941 Maltese Falcon Prop Replica Exclusive Features Falcon stands Just under 12 inches tall, individually Hand Cast In UltraResin™ our proprietary blend of resins and lead for strength, fine image detail, and proper screen accurate weight. Our Maltese Falcon is not just painted, but is cast in jet black Polyurethane Resin with a special protective clear top coat and may be safely displayed indoors or out. This is an individually hand made item. Your 25+ pound Heavyweight Falcon comes in a nest of recycled paper and new brown Kraft paper, wrapped in custom printed Asian style newspaper and bound with jute twine in Captain Jacobi’s burlap Sea Bag and includes a vintage style shipping label addressed to Sam Spade. A Special 60th Anniversary Certificate of Authenticity registered with Studio 303 and The Haunted Studios™ is included with each Falcon.
